With the Millers getting ready to play in League One, what happened to the players who last got us out of this league . . . .

Joe Skarz

Joe began his career with his home side Huddersfield after coming through their Youth ranks went on to spend four years at the John Smith’s Stadium. While with The Terriers he had loan spells with both Hartlepool and Shrewsbury. In 2010 he joined League Two side Bury where he went on to play over one hundred and thirty games.

In March 2013 Joe joined the Millers, originally on loan but signed a two year deal at the end of April. The left-back scored his first goal in a Rotherham shirt on New Years Day 2014 and that season helped the Millers into the Championship playing seventy-seven minutes of the Wembley Play-Off Final.

Joe started the following season well, only losing his place in November when he got injured. His last game for the Millers was in an embarassing FA Cup home loss to Bournemouth when he came off the subs bench in January 2015. He left the Millers at the end of that month signing for League Two Oxford, eventually signing a three-year contract, and going on to play over one hundred games.

At the end of May this year, Joe and Oxford parted company by mutual consent and a day later re-joined Bury on a two-year contract.
