Rotherham United have failed in their bid to sign goalkeeper, Chris Weale from Bristol City on emergency loan cover.

The Millers are without regular ‘keeper, Andy Warrington who is out for around six weeks with a shoulder injury and were trying to bring in Weale as his deputy.

But, City Manager, Gary Johnson, has said that ‘it won’t happen.’

Speaking to City’s Official Site, Johnson carried on, ‘It would have been a good move for everyone but under the transfer regulations we wouldn’t have been able to recall Chris if either of our other ‘keepers got injured. And, we can’t afford to be left short. It would have been a good move for Chris to get some games under his belt.

‘It’s a sad situation and it stops people earning a living.’

The Millers have Steven Cann
who made his first team debut last night and, at the moment have Jamie Annerson on loan from Sheffield United although he is due to go back to Bramall Lane next week.
