Rotherham United Manager Paul Warne described this afternoon’s game at home to Doncaster Rovers as a ‘game of two halves’.

Speaking after the dramatic two-one win by his Millers side, Warney told Freeview, ‘The performance in our first half wasn’t up to our standard but it was in the second half.

‘I didn’t think there was a lot it in the first half, though Donny had more composure on the ball. It’s the first time we’ve played in front of a full house for a while and I think they adjusted to the conditions quicker than we did.

‘I thought if I got the lads in at half-time at nil-nil I’d have been happy with that but then our error led to their goal. Players will make mistakes and Semi (Ajayi) has been brilliant for me so I’m not picking him out, but we’ve spoken to him and told him not to get too complacent on the ball. And in fairness to Marquis it was some finish. But I thought we were really good in the second half, created chances, had a clearance off the line and we did more than enough to win the game.

‘I hope the two Donny who got stretchered off are alright but it didn’t look good. But the injuries ruined the run of the game. We had some possession and then a corner then another and then there was an injury and another injury so the game didn’t really get going.

‘In the end I threw my dice and went for it.

‘Doncaster made it really hard for us, they played well and gave us a tough game. If it had been a draw I wouldn’t have had many complaints.

‘It’s testament to the lads that they keep running and chasing every ball. They don’t know when they’re beaten. They’ve won eleven in fourteen and had three draws and to win it that late on it was like Walt Disney or Cup Final stuff.

‘It’s nice to win a local derby because it means a lot to a lot of people. It’s a good day.’

Asked about Michael Ihiekwe who didn’t make the bench today after two good performances, Warney said he’s hurt his back and wasn’t able to train yesterday but should be OK for next weekend.
