RUFC – Todd ‘Ready and Willing’

Rotherham United’s Andy Todd says he is ready and willing to take any chance that will see him get his starting place back in the Millers first team.

Todd, twenty-eight, joined in the summer from Accrington Stanley, where he had been awarded their Player of the Year, and was in the Millers starting line up for the first couple of months before manager, Mark Robins decided to change things round and dropped him.

Since then he has been finding it increasingly difficult to get back into the side, although he did come on last Saturday in the second half in the home defeat to Rochdale.

Speaking to The Advertiser, Todd doesn’t believe he deserved to be dropped, ‘I don’t think it was fair that I was dropped and I thought I contributed to the team but then again, there’s high standards and competition for places here and I have realised that I’m not going to be a regular unless I earn the right.

‘Since I’ve been out of the side I’ve not let my head drop. Even the young lads in the squad are trying their socks off to get their chance and its made me pull out that extra ten per cent in training. I haven’t been jealous watching the lads playing well, I just wanted to be part of it.

‘After playing fifty or so games last season this season has been strange for me. The good thing is that I’ve got pedigree and with games coming up thick and fast over Christmas there are possibilities of the odd injury or suspensions I might get a chance and when I do I will be there ready and willing to take it.’
