Rotherham United strike pair, Derek Holmes and Chris O’Grady are in a battle to be fit for tomorrow’s game at home to Notts County.

O’Grady has been suffering from a stiff back for the last two weeks and Derek Holmes, who was substituted on Saturday by O’Grady, is still suffering from a hip injury he got at Wrexham.

Manager, Mark Robins, told The Advertiser, ‘We will be taking a close look at the pair before deciding if we will risk playing them.

‘It could be a chance for one of the others to show me what they can do. But we always expected the likes of Marc Newsham, Ryan Taylor and Tom Cahill to be pushing for places.’

Cahill and Taylor won’t have done their cause any harm by scoring for the Reserves in the 2-1 win over Hull mid-week and I think if neither O’Grady or Holmes makes it then one of these two, pairing up with on loan striker Bruce Dyer could well be the order of the day.
