RUFC – So, who said what in the ‘lock-in’?

Rotherham United Manager, Ronnie Moore said on Tuesday night, after being locked in the dressing room with his staff and players for almost an hour, that what went on in there stays in there.

That’s fine and understandable.

No-one wants their dirty linen hanging out in public, although, of course, if it wasn’t for the public of Rotherham there wouldn’t be a football team.

Moore told Les Payne of The Star that ‘one or two home truths had been said, and not all by me.’

So, does that mean the players were accusing each other?

‘It took a while,’ Moore said, ‘but eventually, players have spoken and one or two things that needed saying were said.

‘It’s no good my staff and me having all the say all the time. When some players stand up and point a finger, it’s better for them when players point a finger at somebody. At least then, they know.

‘And it’s not falling out it’s about wanting to win and get out of this division. It’s about having leaders and there were no leaders out there.’

Well, I don’t know about you, but to me it sounds like that isn’t a happy dressing room.

And if that’s the case, what’s happened? Last season with all the problems that were going on with the minus points, the moving out of Rotherham, the players were often seen together and enjoying having a laugh together. We heard about the pranks in the dressing room.

Now we hear of players ‘pointing fingers’ and on the pitch, things aren’t clicking like there were.

Well, whatever it is, it wants sorting – and it wants sorting now before any more damage is done.
