RUFC – Scott post Hereford

Rotherham United Manager, Andy Scott got his first point as the gaffer this afternoon after his side drew nil-nil with Hereford at Don Valley.

Speaking to Radio Sheffield after the game, Andy said, ‘They gave me everything. We did everything but score. On another day two or three go in but that`s the way things are going at the moment. But they worked very, very hard and I think everyone who saw the game would think we thoroughly deserved to win it.

‘We had three or four blocked on the line and on another day we win that comfortably.

‘The intensity was fantastic in the first half although I thought we dropped off a bit in the second half. There are a few little things we need to work on and there are areas to improve. There are a few areas where we need to be more brave on the ball and keep the ball but I wasn`t expecting miracles in the first few days. I think we are still in the hunt because most of the other results went the same way as ours and we live to fight another day.

‘The lads have been fantastic in the first three days I`ve been here and there`s been new ideas, new training and it does take time for things to gel but we haven`t really got that time.

‘Hereford came here on the back of a recent win against Chesterfield and we knew it was going to be tough but the back line coped well and the midfield four worked hard but it was disappointing that we didn`t make the most of some of our opportunities and didn`t take the right option when we needed to ‘

‘Now, we need to go to Northampton with the same intensity and the same belief and if we keep doing those things then things drop for you, it goes in and we`re on a roll. We`ve got the Easter period coming up and we need to take the positives out of today and take that into Friday.’
