Rotherham United manager, Mark Robins, would like to see a rule, in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy, relaxed a little.

The ruling is that six players of the starting eleven HAVE to be FIRST TEAM Regulars and with having three games in seven days, Robins, according to The Yorkshire Post, fears that some of the younger players in the side are in danger of ‘burning out.’

The Millers entertain Grimsby Town tonight at Millmoor in the early kick off time of 7 pm. Denis Wise, whose Leeds United side travel to Darlington tonight for their Trophy game, has every sympathy with the Millers boss who said, ‘You want to give your squad players a game but with this rule you can’t, but we know the rules and so we aren’t moaning.’

Bradford City were fined £4,500 when injuries forced Stuart McCall to make changes in the first round game against Doncaster Rovers. Rovers won 5-1 and it was deemed that City didn’t play enough first team regulars.

Oh, and a note to Denis Wise, the competition is called The Johnstone’s Paint Trophy and not the St Johnstone’s Cup as he has called it at his last two press briefings!
