Rotherham United manager, Mark Robins, said after last night’s loss that the opportunities were there for his team to win the game.

Speaking to The Star, he said, ‘Despite being two goals down we could have won it with the chances we had. The lads felt they had wasted three points and were down after the game.

‘We took the game to them straight from the kick-off and had the ball gone in that hit the post then I think it would have been a different game. We conceded a poor goal and then we gave the ball away in their half and then they got the two goal cushion back just before half time which made it difficult in the second half, although we stuck at it. Had our second goal come a bit earlier then I suppose we might have snatched something.

‘It’s difficult to be critical because they did give a hundred per cent and Chris O’Grady had an excellent game and Ryan Taylor took his goal well, but I don’t want us to become ‘nearly men’.

‘I suppose for the neutral it was an entertaining game, but I would have preferred a different result.’
