Rotherham United Reserves beat Grismby Town Reserves 3-2 at Millmoor this afternoon.

All five goals came in the second half with Jamie Yates, Sam Duncum and Marc Newsham scoring for the Millers to put them three up before goals from Nathan Emson and Mark Courtley made it a nervous finish.

An unconvincing first half saw shots from Yates, Tom Cahill and Liam King either saved by ex Miller Gary Montgomery in Town’s goal or go past the post.

The second half saw plenty of chances for the home side with Montgomery saving well from Cahill and Yates hitting the post before Yates scored in the fifty-third minute. The two other Millers goals came ten and thirteen minutes later with Grimsby scoring on the seventy-seventh and a thunderbolt of a shot by Courtley five minutes from time.

Sam Duncum featured a lot in this game making one goal and scoring another. I do think it might be time for the lad to get a run out in the first team.
