Rotherham United manager, Mark Robins, has told his team that they have to go out and perform from the first whistle. He told The Star that the players have learned a hard lesson after Saturday’s defeat at home to Rochdale and that they have to learn that they can’t start games casually.

‘We’ve had a great run but we can’t go into games thinking we are brilliant players. We have to go out and perform from the first whistle, if not sides like Rochdale will pick us off.

‘Rochdale are a decent side and I have to give credit to our players for getting back into it after being two down – in fact I think we could have killed it off by half-time – but Rochdale did deserve the win.

‘We’ve talked about getting people back here to watch us and that we are doing well but football has this habit of kicking you in the teeth.

‘We are miles better than we showed in this game and I’m sure we’ll be back to it against Bradford on Saturday.’
