Rotherham United Manager Steve Evans has recalled defender Richard Wood from his loan spell at Crawley Town which, according to The Argos has left the Red Devils ‘reeling’.

Helping Crawley to try and avoid relegation, Richard has scored three goals while he’s been with them as well as helping the side to three clean sheets and it leaves Crawley Manager Dean Saunders with a bit of a headache with him saying ‘it’s a disastrous time to lose him.’

Meanwhile Evans told Radio Sheffield, ”He’s an experienced professional and Richard has been Crawley’s best player for a long time along with the boy McLeod and we fetch him back to compete to be in the team.

‘We’re looking at all the players we’ve got out on loan. We brought young Danny Rowe back and now Richard and we’ll be looking at Jonson (Clarke-Harris) and Scott (Loach) and see if we want to add them back to what we’ve got. The chances are we will but we won’t be making any decisions before the weekend.

‘We can’t take the chance because you’ve only got to get a couple of injuries, a couple of sending-offs and you’ve a game two or three games later then you’re scrambling around to re-call your players.’
