Rotherham United haven’t yet announced the price of Season Tickets for next season – mainly, I suppose, because we aren’t sure which League we will be in.

But I was wondering if the club offered a ‘Five Year Season Ticket’ how many people would take up the offer?

I know our neighbours at S6 (Sheffield Wednesday) offer this but I’m not sure how many people have taken them up on it.

The cons are that it would be quite a lot of money to have to pay out at once and you’d probably have to be a ‘die hard’ fan to want to do this.

The pros are that you are guaranteed a seat for five years and once you’ve paid your money then you can forget about it for a few years.

And, of course, there is the fact that the club have your money to use on, hopefully, keeping players at the club or buying new players to boost the teams chances of staying in that league.

This season the Millers have had around five and a half thousand season ticket holders. Which isn’t bad for a team that were almost guaranteed relegation before the Christmas trees came down the season before. If we went back up into the Championship there would probably be more next season.

I’ve been a Season Ticket holder, on and off, since the 1970’s and have had the same seat since we moved to the New York Stadium.

Yes, I do miss the odd game here and there but for me it means I have the same seat sat with friends and have actually made friends with the people who sit around us.

Would I buy a five year ticket? If I’d got the money then probably I would.
