Rotherham United’s young defender, Jamie Green, in my opinion, has had a brilliant season this season. He has featured in thirty-four games and has proved he has pace and commitment and deserved the Young Player of the Year Trophy he received last week from the club.

Speaking about the last game of the season to Gerry Somerton of RotherFm, Jamie said, ‘I think we have enough in our locker to go out on a high. A win would put the season on a positive slant. It would be nice to score another goal but I’m happy with one a season but to get two would be brilliant!’

Going back to last Saturday’s defeat at Bradford, the nineteen year old said, ‘It was never a three-nil game. They played well but we had lots of chances but didn’t put them away and they did. For the first goal Thorne was stood in an offside position. The linesman said he didn’t see it but it’s his job to see it. That put us on a bit of a downer and we didn’t really push on from there. Even when the second goal went in it was still doable because they might have crumbled but we didn’t have that luck.’

When it was suggested that, if not for Andy Warrington, the score could have been a lot worse, Jamie said, ‘He is a class act and despite how old he looks he’s still got it!’
