Rotherham United Manager Steve Evans praised his teams performance this afternoon at the Riverside Stadium.

‘I thought Adam Hammill had a very good game today,` the Millers Boss told Radio Sheffield. ‘He`s come in and made his first start for us and was driving at them. He`s been fantastic in training and was deserving of a chance and I thought he was excellent. We put him in for Ben Pringle who packed in a huge amount in the Easter fixtures.

‘Emi (Martinez) makes a good save from the penalty and I’ve told Woody (Richard Wood) that he`s fortunate because Big Emi`s got him out of the doodah. Although I thought Richard was very good. He won his headers and it`s been a difference for him today from League One. And I thought Kirk Broadfoot beside him was outstanding.

‘Richie Smallwood came back to the Riverside and showed then he should never have left and I was really pleased when Lee Frecklington came on because he gave us a real surge of energy in the middle of the park, And it`s good to see Danny Ward getting some more minutes. People can be frustrated because they want to see Wardy start, well Steve Evans wants to see him start, but I have to go on medical advice.

‘Our end product was a bit poor but, apart from that, my team`s come and had a right go.`

Going on to speak about the travelling Millers supporters this afternoon – almost one thousand made the trip to the Riverside, the Gaffer said, ‘I’ve made my feelings felt about the Millers support. They are fantastic people, fantastic supporters. They will go away disappointed today and probably got a bit frustrated with us in the final third, I did.`
