It was on this day that Mark Robins was announced as Manager of the club and he admitted to Radio Sheffield that he actually knew he had the job yesterday. Speculation was rife over who would be his number two, although most people were going for John Breckin.

It was also the day that Michael Keane answered the fans who said he didn`t want to play in a struggling side, saying that he was taking too long to come back from injury. Michael replied to them, saying, ‘That couldn`t be further from the truth. I was working until 3 o`clock doing extra work and tried to rush back too soon which caused a breakdown. I had a scan which showed the full seriousness of the problem. I still want to play and haven`t given up on us stopping up.`

On this day four years ago, then Rotherham captain, Colin Murdock was confident of staying up. After battling for survival both on and off the field and having a new Chairman, Denis Coleman, Murdock said that the mood in the camp was good. ‘I think we can avoid relegation,` Murdock said, ‘our away form has been poor but if we can win all our games at home, I believe we can do it.`
