Rotherham United’s playing squad will be in for training on Christmas Day morning as they prepare for the hectic Christmas period.

Boss Alan Knill has hit out at the Football League for giving the lower league clubs 4 games in 10 days.

The hectic schedule will give the Millers small squad little time to enjoy the festive family fun as Football takes precident.

Knill told The Advertiser, ‘As a footballer you get used to working over Christmas, it’s an important time’.
He added, ‘Premiership clubs play less games than us even though they have bigger squads, yet we are asked to play 4 games, it’s ridiculous’.

‘Last Christmas we were forced to play Lee Williamson injured at Tranmere and put young Sam Duncum on because we had so few fit men’.
‘I can understand why there’s so many games over the festive period with the crowds and so on, but it’s tough on the players.
‘We’ll just have to get through it’ said Knill.

Rotherham will be training at Bristol City today, before an overnight stay in preperation for Saturday’s game at Swansea.
