A whole-hearted and willing worker, striker Don formed a telling partnership with Tony Cunningham and the duo’s 29 league goals provided a major factor in winning promotion from Division Four. Not the most elegant of performers, Don had a great turn of speed and his goals tally included a hat-trick in a 5-2 win at Barnet.
For most of the following season he was used as a substitute not making a start until he scored in a 1-1 draw at his former club, Wigan Athletic on February 13th, 1993. His other goal in that campaign also came in a 1-1 draw, this time at home to Fulham in early April.
