Rotherham United’s next away trip sees them at the City Ground where they will take on Nottingham Forest.
The last time the two met at the City Ground was in the Championship in January 2017. A fifty minute penalty and seventy-one minute goal from Britt Assombalonga gave Forest all three points. The Millers handed a debut to Semi Ajayi.
The season before the game in Nottingham saw the hosts win two-one despite Danny Collins putting the Millers in front on thirteen minutes. Matthew Mills scored on the stroke of half-time with Michail Antonio making it two-one just after the hour mark. Richie Smallwood, Chris Maguire and Matt Derbyshire got yellow for the Millers that night with a yellow card going to Forest’s David Vaughan.
A Wednesday night in March 2015 saw a two minutes lapse from the Millers at the end of the first half when Dexter Blackstock and Michail Antonio scored to give the hosts all three points.
Easter Monday 2007 saw the teams meet at the City Ground in what was a ‘must win’ game for both sides, the Millers trying to avoid relegation and Forest trying to get promotion. Chris O’Grady opened the scoring on ten minutes smashing the ball past Forest ‘keeper Paul Smith but eleven minutes later Craig Fleming was adjuged to have brought down Nathan Tyson and the referee pointed to the spot. Grant Holt put the resulting spot-kick past Neil Cutler in the Millers goal.
The last time the Millers beat Forest at the City Ground was in April 1955 when goals from Gladstone Guest and Jack Grainger gave the Millers a two-nil win.
The first ever league game at the City Ground between the two was in September 1919 with Forest being four-one winners.
