ROTHERHAM 0 SKU AMSTETTEN 0

Rotherham United took on Austrian side SKU Amstetten this morning in a game that ended goalless.

Formed in 1996 Amstetten play at the Ertl Glas-Stadion and were promoted to the second division in 2018. This was Amstetten’s third friendly, they won the other two scoring four goals in each.

There wasn’t much between the teams this morning at the Millers Austrian training ground of Sportschule Lindabrunn, although both Lewis Price, in goal and defender Semi Ajayi had to be alert in the first half-an-hour.

In the second half Joe Mattock put the ball just over and a ball out from Price found Ajayi whose long through ball found Michael Smith but the Millers forward put the ball just wide. Four minutes before the hour mark Rotherham Boss Paul Warne made eleven changes and Joe Newell was soon out of the traps sending a ball into the box which no-one got on the end of. At the other end Lawrence Bilboe, now in goal, made a good save helped by Kyle Vassell who headed clear before Dominic Ball did well to head another Austrian attack away to safety. A couple of set-pieces from Jon Taylor were well executed but again no-one was able to get on them.

In the end both sides will be happy to have kept a clean sheet.
