He was asked about the on-going court case between the club and the former owners, the Booth family.

‘We can’t say too much as it is an on-going court case,’ he said,’ but we have had plenty of meetings with our lawyers and I will say that we are happy with developments at the moment. Of course, it is in the Courts hands and I suspect it may drag on until after the end of the season.

‘I am confident that we can go into the next couple of years stable. But of course, if we go down the crowds will go down.’

He then spoke about the sale of Lee Williamson and Will Hoskins to Watford. ‘The amount was a little bit less for these two than was reported in the press and we have had to use some of the money for things other than new players. For instance, when the Swansea game was cancelled, we still had to pay the caterers and the stewards which took a chunk out of it. But I think we are using the money constructively.

‘We have looked at the cost of us both staying up in League One and going down to League Two. Don’t forget, when this present board came in Rotherham United were losing 1.8 million and we had to make drastic alterations. In the first year we have got it down a lot and we hope to break even next year.’
