Former Rotherham United Manager Matt Taylor is back in management after being appointed by League One side Bristol Rovers.

Rovers, who are currently comfortable in mid-table, have been without a manager for just over a month after sacking Joey Barton who had been at the helm for three years.

Matt came to the Millers after a four year spell with Exeter City but in the bottom three the pair parted company in mid-November after a five-nil defeat away to Watford and with just two wins for the season which were both at home against Norwich City and Coventry City.

As yet Rotherham United have to appoint a new manager with Taylor’s second in command Wayne Carlisle doing the job as caretaker alongside Dan Green and Scott Brown who were also appointed by Taylor.

It might not have worked out for him at the New York Stadium but here at Vital Rotherham we wish Matt ‘all the best’ for his future.

That’s a good appointment for him and his family. Moving back south must have had a real appeal and he seems a nice guy.Its a shame he took what seems a poison chalice when he joined us but he can’t say he didn’t have transfer funds. I’m now thinking he and his staff had realised the job was too big for them and his lack of experience handling Championship players egos was probably his downfall.
Despite the so called dressing room support for him it’s probable there were mixed feelings after his treatment of Woody and others frozen out and sent on loan.
I’m sure he will do well with Bristol as the players will probably listen to him and not do their own thing.
I reckon he will call on his staff now to join him making a recruitment job for us a bigger priority.
An experienced no nonsense Manager is a must for us now with a solid back room staff in support.
