Rotherham United are in Cup football again on Tuesday playing a second round Carabao Cup game away against Stoke City.
The Millers and Potters have met four times in this competition in the past the first time being in 1963 the pair met in the League Cup in the fifth round at the Victoria Ground. Rotherham lost to the Potters three-two, Brian Jackson and Brian Tiler scoring the Millers goals.
The 1984/5 was a two-round affair and called the Milk Cup with the Millers winning the game at Stoke two-one and the second leg at Millmoor was a one-all draw giving the Millers a three-two win on aggregate. Alan Birch and Tony Simmons scoring for Rotherham at Stoke, an own goal seeing Rotherham through to the next round with Grimsby.
A Carling Cup game at the bet365 Stadium in November 2008 saw the hosts win two-nil with goals from Glenn Whelan and Danny Pugh.
Stoke and Rotherham have already met in the league this season at the Bet365 Stadium with City coming out four-one winners, the visitors going down to ten men on sixty-nine minutes when Cafu got his marching orders.
