Rotherham United and Jerry Yates have parted ways with the striker going to Blackpool for an undisclosed fee.

After spending part of his Youth career with his home club Doncaster Rovers, Jerry joined the Millers in his early teens signing a professional deal in 2014. While with the Millers he had loan spells with Harrogate Railway Athletic, Harrogate Town, Carlisle United and two spells with Swindon Town.

Jerry was twice voted Rotherham United Young Player of the Year (2014/15 and 2016/17). He made his Millers debut in April 2015 in the Championship coming off the bench for the final five minutes of our away game with Birmingham City. His first goals came in the EFL Cup in August 2016 when he scored twice at home to Morecambe with his first League goal coming the following January when he put Rotherham in front at home to Norwich City.

The twenty-three year old has made fifty-one appearances for Rotherham scoring five times. He spent last season with League Two side Swindon Town scoring fourteen times in thirty-six games.

All at Vital Rotherham wish Jerry ‘all the best’ for his future.

This is odd. I came onto this thread specifically to ask Caz if she knew how carlton was getting on as I hadn’t seen a comment from him in a while. And here you are. I’m very pleased and I agree with your comments on Jerry.

I’m pleased you’re OK too CinL! There are a few fair people who think like you that he wasn’t given a fair crack of the whip and there are others who think he had quite a few chances but didn’t shine in them. I probably don’t think he had enough games together in a block really although I also don’t think he was strong enough for the Championship. I think he’ll do OK at Blackpool.
