Rotherham United striker Jerry Yates is a wanted man or so says Alan Nixon this evening.

The rumour is that Swindon Town would like Yates on loan next season and it’s a possibility that the Millers would let him go.

Yates started out at Doncaster Rovers but as a teenager joined Rotherham signing a professional deal in 2014. He isn’t new to going out on loan having had spells with Harrogate Railway Athletic and Harrogate Town before a very successful five months in League Two this past season with Carlisle United.

The twenty-two year old played twenty-nine times for the Cumbrians in all competitions finding the net seven times before being recalled in January by Rotherham to cover for injuries. When back with the Millers he made seven appearances, mostly off the bench, the last one being away at Derby County at the end of March.

Swindon finished thirteenth in League Two last season with midfielder Michael Doughty being their top scorer with thirteen goals.

As Millers do we think that Jerry is in Manager Paul Warne’s plans for next season? Personally, I don’t think a loan move will be sanctioned until the Gaffer sees who he gets over the line which will probably not be until just before the start of the new season. But, then again, in football you never know.
