Rotherham United’s club captain Richard Wood has signed a new deal with the club which keeps him as a Miller until 2020.

Woody joined the Millers in the summer of 2014 playing just a handful of games before being sent out on loan to Crawley where he scored three goals before being recalled in April making three more appearances.

Without playing a game for the Millers the following season saw the defender out on loan again firstly with Fleetwood then at Chesterfield. With an injury to Harry Toffolo, then Manager Neil Redfearn brought him back in December 2015 though didn’t play until Neil Warnock took over at the helm two months later. The following season, Woody made thirty-one appearances and scored seven goals in forty-two games last season, including the two at Wembley that got us back into the Championship.

Richard Wood is the experience we need on the pitch and has had games in the Championship not only with the Millers but also with the likes of Sheffield Wednesday and Charlton Athletic.

All at Vital Rotherham are pleased to hear that you are staying Woody!
