Rotherham United winger Ryan Williams is returning to fellow League One side Portsmouth when his contract expires at the New York Stadium.

Born in Perth, Australia, Ryan came to England to join Portsmouth’s Academy in 2010 and was soon involved in first team training going on to make a handful of appearances for Pompey before January 2012 saw him join Fulham. Having been out on loan Ryan was signed by South Yorkshire neighbours Barnsley in the summer of 2015 but injury blighted his game time and he played just twenty-one times before coming to the New York Stadium in June 2017.

The now twenty-five-year-old scored his first goal in the Millers five-nil home win over Southend in August 2017 his last in March this year in our three-two win at home over Blackburn Rovers.

Ryan was called up to join the Socceroos alongside his brother Rhys earlier this month making his debut in a friendly game against South Korea.

Ryan has made eighty-eight appearances in a Rotherham shirt forty-one of those being last season with the Portsmouth News saying he has signed a two year deal for Portsmouth.

All at Vital Rotherham wish Ryan ‘All The Best’ in his future – although, personally, I’m disappointed he’s left the Millers for a team in the same league as us.
