When the Rotherham United players went back into training today there were three new faces for them to meet.

Kyle Vassell and Clark Robertson signed in on Friday for what is thought to be three years while Zak Vyner came on a season long loan from Bristol City today.

The deal to fetch twenty-one year old Zak in began at the end of last season when Millers Boss Paul Warne got in touch with his counterpart Lee Johnson at Bristol City.

Zak isn’t new to loan spells having previously had them with Accrington Stanley and Plymouth Argyle and told iFOLLOW that this was a ‘natural progression’ in his career to go out and get games with a Championship club.

But, will he get games? Well it doesn’t seem like we are getting Josh Emmanuel back on loan from Ipswich Town and with Shaun Cummings being one of the players ‘let go’ after the League One Play-Off Final there certainly is a gap for him to fall into.

He also fits into the way Paul Warne wants them – young, athletic and fit (though just how fit he’ll feel after one of Warney’s training sessions remains to be seen!) He soon became a fans’ favourite at Home Park where he formed a strong understanding on the pitch alongside Sonny Bradley. Last week he signed a contract which keeps him at Ashton Gate until the summer of 2021 which makes me wonder why Lee Johnson isn’t keeping him for himself. Perhaps he wants him to go out and get games or perhaps there are more players at Bristol City vying for the same position and he won’t get a look in?

Whatever it is then it can only be good for the Millers.
