Who Has The Whistle At The New York Stadium On Saturday?

|

In charge of our next game against Coventry City on Saturday we have Darren Handley from Lancashire.

Born in Westhoughton Darren progressed into the West Lancashire league in 1995. By 2000 he had been promoted to the North West Counties Football League Referees List before joining the National List for Assistant referees in 2006. After spending six years refereeing in the Conference and assisting in the Football League he was being promoted to the Football League List for the start of the 2014/15 season.

This will be just the second time Darren has been in charge of a Millers game the first being our Checkatrade Trophy Game in October 2017 when Chesterfield were the visitors at the New York Stadium, a game that saw Ben Wiles make his debut. The Spireites went ahead in the opening ten minutes with a goal from Diego De Girolamo with Will Vaulks equalising for the hosts with twenty minutes to go. In the last minute of the game Jak McCourt scored the winner for the visitors.

This season Darren has been in the middle for six games and has shown twenty-seven yellow and two red cards.

Running the line on Saturday we have Danny Gratton and Paul Graham while the Fourth Official will be Andrew Dallison from Nottinghamshire.

It wasn’t the best, I agree, Stuart. Let’s hope if teams come and play as negative as Shrewsbury did we have learned how to combat it.
