Which Team Were Better According To The Stats

Rotherham United got an away draw against Sheffield Wednesday yesterday – and a point away from home is not to be sniffed at – but, could it have been more?

Our Manager Paul Warne certainly thinks it should have been and we had the chances but giving away goals to silly mistakes is not going to get you those three away points.

We definitely had the better of the first half and it was much against run of play that the hosts went in front in time added on at the end of the forty-five minutes. The Owls were better in the second half, no doubt about it, but better than the Millers? Hmm, for me the jury is definitely out on that one.

The stats tell us that we won more battles in the air, more duels and intercepted more balls while Wednesday had more corners and their passing accuracy was better. Our crossing accuracy only came out at twenty per cent – that I am a little surprised at as I thought our crossing was a lot better yesterday than it has been lately.

We had fifteen shots on goal to the Owls’ twelve with both teams having four shots on target and with the stats saying the hosts had fifty-three per cent of possession with the Millers having had forty-seven all I can say is I’d like to have seen those stats at half-time!
