Which Team Had The Better Of The Stats

Rotherham United started the New Year with three points after a home win against Preston North End yesterday.

This was the Millers first win since the beginning of November and just the sixth of the season but it was an important win because it saw Rotherham move out of the bottom three of the Championship.

There wasn’t a lot between the sides with North End just edging the possession stats and the visitors were that bit better in duels while the Millers passing accuracy was the better of the teams.

Rotherham had eight shots at goal with three on target but Preston had seventeen shots at goal of which five were on target – personally I didn’t think that there were that many shots in the match.

But, as we always say, it doesn’t really matter what the stats tell us it’s goals that win games and Rotherham scored two goals to Preston’s one.
