Rotherham United will be getting ready for their home game with Norwich City this week while also keeping in their minds the other four games they have throughout October.

But, with a month of the season gone which players have stood out for you?

While, obviously, not being able to watch games ‘in the flesh’ so to speak I have been watching on line (though the last one was somewhat blurry) or listening live to commentary and one of the players who I think has shown he’s settled in has been Angus MacDonald who joined from Hull in August. He seems to have been here, there and everywhere around the pitch having a solid start in a Millers shirt – (and I think we can forgive him for sticking out his boot at the wrong time in the last game!)

But, if we look at the stats – and, yes, I know you can make stats say anything you want – there are also a couple of other contenders for September’s Player of the Month.

As it stands we have four players on a goal each – Kieran Sadlier, Michael Ihiekwe, Ben Wiles and Matt Crooks while both Sadlier and Ihiekwe also have an assist each to their names. And, according to these stats, those two players have also had five shots at goal each.

Coming into the assists column we also have Joe Mattock who has one assist but has created seven chances while both Sadlier and Ihiekwe have created two and one chances respectively.

And while Ihiekwe has completed most passes – eighty – his passing accuracy comes out at fifty-four per cent with Mattock’s seventy-six accurate passes gives him a sixty per cent pass accuracy.

Plus the fact that I believe we have defended well for a large amount of the game – and, if it wasn’t for time added on we could probably be well up the table – which means our defence have played well too.

Looking at everything I still think my player of the month would go to Angus MacDonald but, in truth, it is a team game and I believe we have been playing as a team so far this season.

Who would you give your pre-international break vote too?

Up The Millers.
