What Were The Stats At The Stadium Of Light On Tuesday Night?

|

Rotherham United got a well deserved point at the Stadium of Light on Tuesday night against a team that are thought to be one of the favourites for promotion at the end of this season.

Well, if what I saw of falling over and moaning to the referee at every chance they got gets them points then they’ll walk the league – if it’s playing flowing fighting football then I think the Millers could give them a lesson or two.

The final stats tell us that the Millers had fifty-five per cent of possession and also having the better of the duel possession though Sunderland’s aerial duel possession was the better.

Both teams had four corners with Rotherham’s passing accuracy being sixty-five per cent and fifty-six per cent in the opponents half. The Millers had more shots – twelve of which four were on target while the hosts also had four on target from eight shots on goal.

The fouls conceded stats saw the Black Cats gave away twenty-one fouls while Rotherham conceded just twelve.

I really don’t think, after the first minute, many Millers – even those who are always on the ‘glass half-full’ persuasion – would have thought we’d see stats like this on Tuesday night. Yes, we could have won it had things gone a bit more our way – but, in the end, despite Mr Toner having the whistle, I do think a draw was a fair result.
