What The Stats Say – Millers v Posh

Rotherham United probably saved their best performance of 2019 until the last game of the year this afternoon beating a fancied Peterborough United side four-nil at the New York Stadium (and I don’t think they will be wanting to see a South Yorkshire side again for some time!)

As a fan I thought the Millers were by far the better side with the stats saying that we had fifty-four per cent of possession to Peterborough’s forty-six. Rotherham were also successful in fifty-five per cent of the duels and won fifty-nine per cent of the aerial duels this afternoon.

Rotherham had eleven corners to Peterborough’s one and our passing accuracy in our opponents half comes out at fifty-nine per cent. The hosts had eighteen shots at goal of which six were on target (I’d have thought a couple more than six personally) to the visitors one on target from three shots.

Peterborough conceded one more foul, thirteen, than Rotherham with Rotherham having no yellow cards in the game.

What matter most, of course, is the three points, the four goals and, for me, equally important is the clean sheet.

For Millers fans it was a very satisfactory afternoon – more of these please!
