What The Managers Had To Say

|

Rotherham United Manager Paul Warne said last night’s Carabao Cup game against Sheffield Wednesday was a ‘good South Yorkshire derby with a few tackles’ though insisted that it ‘wasn’t a dirty game.’

Speaking to the Official Site Warney thought the game could have gone either way saying, ‘ I just thought the longer the game went on, we looked a bit leggy.’

Due to games being postponed the Millers haven’t played for ten days, which, I suppose is the same as when we were a Championship club having an ‘international break’ but I do think it makes a difference just playing training games and not competitive football. Saying that the first forty-five minutes definitely went to the hosts last night.

Speaking to Sports Mole Owls caretaker Manager Lee Bullen said he didn’t think his side deserved to ‘nick the win’ saying, ‘in the first thirty minutes we couldn’t get going but their press and tempo is very high and eventually that will take its toll’.

Finishing, Warney said, ‘Unfortunately we’re on the wrong end of the result tonight but, hopefully, we’ll be on the right side of it at the weekend.’ Can’t agree more – the Millers need that first home win of the season against Tranmere on Saturday.

I just wish Warne didn’t say anything after we lose! It as a familar sound to it.

To be fair, Stuart, it is very difficult to do an interview straight after a game – specially when you’ve lost.
