Rotherham United couldn’t make it three wins in a row going down two-one to Cardiff at home in the snow this evening.

But it wasn’t for the lack of trying, especially in the first half.

The Millers had fifty-four per cent of possession tonight and had twelve corners to our visitors seven. Our passing accuracy in our opponents half was fifty-two per cent with Cardiff’s crossing accuracy being thirty-one per cent to Rotherham’s eighteen.

Not surprisingly, in a game that took place mainly in the air, the stats show that aerial duels won were fifty/fifty. Fouls wise we gave away thirteen to our visitors eleven and there were no cards shown.

I think it’s easy to see where we need to improve when you see we had fifteen shots at goal with just three on target – the Bluebirds having six on target from twelve shots.

The snow came down and the farce of the ‘yellow ball’ probably didn’t help our momentum and it looked like we’d switched off for a minute when the scorer of City’s winner managed to get himself unmarked to the far post. We’d also put, what I call, forward thinking players on from the bench and although I’m not against that I’m not sure they were in the right positions when that goal went in.

Got to shake the snow off, clear the pitch and get ready for another tough game on Saturday when Queens Park Rangers make the trek up from London.
