What Do The Stats Say This Week?

Rotherham United might have lost four-nil this afternoon to West Bromwich Albion side but both Millers Manager Paul Warne and a humble little me fully expects to see them in the Premier League again next season.

Darren Moore had his side set out very well against us this afternoon and, after seeing them a couple of times this season via the TV, I’ve thought the weakest part of their game was defending but they proved that wasn’t the case today.

The Millers were soon one-down and went in three down at half-time and yet we did have chances. We hit the post, we had at least two goal bound balls hacked off the line (and they must have been a bit frightened to have their ‘keeper booked after thirty minutes for time wasting!)

West Brom had more possession that the Millers but Rotherham had five more corners, won more aerial duels and got more crosses into the box. We also had eighteen shots at goal of which four were on target – the Baggies had eleven shots, five of which were on target, four of those being goals.

Again, I think, mistakes cost us – a player not quite up with play, sloppy passing and some inadequate defending but, as I said, we did make chances, chances which we now really need to be taking.
