What Do The Stats Say – Millers v Leeds

|

Rotherham United lost late on against top of the table Leeds United at the New York Stadium yesterday which was I felt was a real shame after going in front in the first half with a magnificent goal.

In his post match interview Millers Boss, Paul Warne, said nobody expected the Millers to beat Leeds before the game and he didn’t mind being the underdog.

Well we went in front which bothers me enough to wonder why we can’t actually hang on to a lead. I thought we were the better side in the first half but were pushed back into our own half for most of the second half – yes, Leeds are top of the table but we were the home team. Surely, at one-up we should have been doing the pushing?

The possession stats say Leeds had sixty-nine per cent to Rotherham’s thirty-one per cent – I bet that looked different after the first forty-five minutes. The Millers team actually won more battles in the air than our opponents with Leeds having five corners to Rotherham’s four.

Our passing sometimes leaves a lot to be desired and yesterday fifty-eight per cent of our passes made it while Leeds stats say they had eighty per cent success with crossing accuracy being the same.

The West Yorkshire side had fourteen shots at goal (really?) with four on target while the Millers had five shots at goal, three of those being on target. Our shooting accuracy percentage reads sixty per cent while Leeds’ was only twenty-nine per cent.

Stats count for nothing in the end! The only stat that counted was the millers lost yet again and calamity Paul Warne saying they gave everything, sound familiar, because how many times have we heard this before after a defeat, Mr calamity and is get out card, By the way was great to see the new attacking player yesterday NOT!! Just another load of bull**** from Warne, The stench reeking out from the new york stadium is making me sick, cheers Tony we are making real progress are we not.

The most important thing to me is that I am entertained by the game I am watching and it’s a bonus if my team win. I pay my money to enjoy football. So far this season I have only rarely not enjoyed the game – win or lose.

Imo the players DID give their all yesterday and I believe PW gives ‘his all’ too.

If you expect us to win the majority of our games in the Championship then I think you will always be disappointed – better to concentrate on enjoying the football and supporting your team.

Might I politely suggest if NY makes you sick then perhaps a change of venue – S6 might suit you better!

I have been supporting the millers since 1968 and like your sarcastic reply entitled to my opinion, i have also been a regular season ticket holder for over 40years, nobody expects the millers to win the majority of games in the championship, but cigar chomping Stewart wants to stop conning the paying public about us making progress. As for yourself i have some sound advice go boil your own head.
