Former Rotherham United Manager Neil Warnock has today admitted that he has been in talks about taking Matt Crooks to Middlesbrough.

There has been much speculation about midfielder Matt, who has been an integral part of the Millers squad since joining in January 2019 from Northampton Town, and most of that talk has been about him moving to the North Yorkshire club.

In OneBoro word is that the twenty-seven year old is close to playing his football in the Championship at the Riverside Stadium next season.

Neil Warnock said, ‘we are quite close to getting a couple over the line and Crooks is one we’ve been talking about but there are a couple more we’ve been talking about too.’

As soon as last season ended there was talks both by Millers’ fans and in the media that both Crooks and Michael Smith would be moving on. Obviously both want higher football than we can give them in League One at the New York Stadium and I think we are expecting Crooks to leave sooner rather than later.
