Warney Pleased With Draw

|

Rotherham United Manager Paul Warne was ‘really pleased’ after getting a point at home from Bournemouth this afternoon.

Speaking to Radio Sheffield after the two-all draw with the team in second place in the Championship, the Millers Boss said, ‘It’s the most we’ve been complete in ninety minutes.’

And he’s right isn’t he. After the last two games of only coming to life in the final thirty minutes or so I thought we set off really well today and I also feel we were on top for most of the game. They got a dodgy penalty (again in my opinion) and we had a goal ruled out for offside – well, let’s just say, it could have been a different scenario – and, like Warney, I think Bournemouth’s goalie, Asmir Begovic, was the Man of the Match.

‘We looked a bit more aggressive today,’ the Gaffer said, ‘and the front two led the line well while I thought the mid-field three had good performances. Overall I’m really pleased with the performance and to take a point off a top team will give our dressing room the belief in themselves that I have with them.’

Confidence is a great asset and this performance will surely give all our players – and fans – more of that.

Warney says that he believes the penalty given to Bournemouth was a penalty – well, I’ve seen it back a few times and am still very unsure edging on the side of ‘it wasn’t’ but can see why it was given.

The only bad news from today, as far as I can see, is that Michael Ihiekwe got his fifth yellow card of the season which means he will miss the mid-week game against Brentford. Also Matt Olosunde, who was subbed in today’s game is very doubtful for Tuesday night.
