Warney ‘It Was A Bit Marmitey’

|

Rotherham United Manager Paul Warne told iFOLLOW that he was pleased with his sides point away from home yesterday.

And so he should be. You can’t dis an away point whoever you are playing. And, I feel, it was a well deserved point. And we kept a clean sheet and it’s a while since we kept one of those.

The Millers Boss completely changed the shape of the team yesterday seemingly putting as many ‘big’ lads on the pitch as he could to try and counteract Millwall’s ability at set-pieces and, you have to say, it sort of worked.

Speaking after the goalless draw at the New Den, Warney said, ‘It was a bit marmitey. There was good and bad. It was a pretty ugly game first half and there wasn’t enough bite about us but I thought we were the stronger team in the second half.’

I have to agree. I thought both teams were shocking in the first half with the Millers finding themselves penned into their own half for much of it but they came out in the second half and had a go which you can’t really ask for any more than that away from home on a pitch that wasn’t the best.

Talking about the opposition, Warney went on to say, ‘Millwall make it hard for you, they’ve won five in seven and I think they are an excellent team.’

Meanwhile Millwall Manager Neil Harris told their Official Site that Rotherham were the biggest side they’d played against and thought his side had the better of the first half, creating some chances saying, ‘but in the second half they (Rotherham) did what they do well getting the ball forward and throwing everything into the box. They played with a back five, well back six really and I’m delighted with the clean sheet and looking at it as a point gained.’ He also thought the challenge on their ‘keeper Jordan Archer by Richard Wood was a disgrace saying, ‘he went in two footed. It’ll be interesting to see what the referee makes of it when he sees it back.’

Marmite indeed Mr calamity Warne! Good point away from home, i love marmite on toast but am afraid Mr calamity Warne leaves a bad smell for me, must be all that bull**** he constantly keeps churning out but he is not on is own because in the corridors of power at the NYS one Mr Tony Stewart OBE is a even bigger depositor of bull**** than Warne, when you receive your OBE Tony get them to pin it on your cigar chomping big deluded head.

He’s right though Stuart, it was ‘marmitey’ – we were poor in the first half and at half-time I feared the worst. But, we came out better in the second half and could have actually nicked all three points although, saying that, so could Millwall.

A precious away point !!!!! But no goals. We needed a no 10 to help and play off
smithy up front. Unfortunately no signings happened. If I was forward I would love to play off Smithy as the chances created would give loads of goal chances. It seems strange that we put out a ‘big side ‘ according to Millwall . I think we put out what we had fit!!!! Let’s hope we keep battling on as there’s little scope to change things now it seems. does anybody know why we cant get players in. whats the problems i know this windows shut but there araarestill free agent players about

i think not bringing in new blood puts the current squad into the comfort zone so you dont 100 percent out of them

    • Caz Neale (Herringthorpe) says:

Yes, I’ve always thought the less players you have for competition for places the more complacent the players will become because they will get picked. Although, I’m not so sure I can say that about the current Millers players who I do think mostly give their all.

caz do you think like me that good players can be picked up out of none league or local league football i go back a long way and remember players who were pick up out of local and none league football players lika woodall. houghton. buttler massey and few more we dont need scouts on the south coast get local scouts on herringthorpe playing fields

    • Caz Neale (Herringthorpe) says:

I don’t think they’d see much on Herringthorpe fields at the moment – few rugby players and a lot of dogs perhaps! But, yes, I do think now is the time to be looking at non-league or lower league players who are hard working, which Paul Warne wants, and can be molded into a Rotherham player perhaps ready to go next season, whichever division we are in.
