Warne ‘Win Is A Right Boost’

|

Rotherham United Manager Paul Warne couldn’t have been anything but happy after his side picked up their first three points since New Years day yesterday afternoon at the New York Stadium.

Speaking to iFOLLOW after the three-two win over Blackburn Rovers the Millers Boss said he didn’t think his team were at their ‘free-flowing best’.

‘I think we’ve played better in the previous five,’ Warne mused, ‘but to come away with a win is a right boost.’

I think we will all admit that when Rovers scored the penalty in time added on to make it three-two we were looking over our shoulders with some fans thinking about the recent South Yorkshire derby, some fans praying and some doing both!

Warney also said that before our second goal, the players went deeper and deeper and he’s right. There was no outlet coming forward because all of our eleven players were camped in our half.

But then Warney himself asked the fans to support, asked them to shout and sing. We did and the players responded. ‘If ever there’s a team in the league that needs the support of the fans, this is it,’ the Gaffer said.

I actually thought the roar around the stadium was brilliant yesterday. Probably the best I’ve heard it for some time. And just look what that did. As fans, we have our part to play this season. We need to be shouting from the off – however the lads are playing.

Rotherham haven’t lost in six now, five of those being drawn games. And, I think, at least in two of those games we should have got more.

Another massive game for us next week when we take on Sheffield United at Bramall Lane – easy, eh!
