Warne ‘We Need To Take Our Chances’

|

Rotherham United Manager Paul Warne didn’t think his team played ‘too shabby’ in yesterday’s one-nil loss away at Accrington Stanley.

Speaking to iFollow after their run of twenty-one undefeated ended a shivering Millers Boss said, ‘Being top of the league means we have a target on our backs.

‘I thought we were really good in the first half but we didn’t take our chances.’

How long have we been saying this, though? Week in-week out we have seen chance after chance go begging with probably the good run we’ve been on making us turn a bit of a blind eye to the once that we have missed.

‘They (Accrington) started better than us in the second half, which I was disappointed with,’ Warne said, ‘and I don’t think we had enough composure on the ball.’

No, we didn’t. It seemed to be get it and kick-it anywhere, lump it up and hope.

‘We didn’t really create anything in the first fifteen minutes of the second half,’ the Manager said, ‘and we huffed and puffed a bit. I’m obviously disappointed with the goal. But we came up against a good Accrington team who played the conditions better than us and took the best chance of the game.

‘I thought we’d done enough to win the game but today wasn’t our day and as a Rotherham fan, a Rotherham manager, you leave the game today disappointed we haven’t won.

‘We’ve had a great run but we need to get better. We are going to come up against some really tough games that we need to take our chances in.’
