Warne ‘We Need To Recruit’

|

Rotherham United Manager Paul Warne is expecting to strengthen his squad before the transfer window closes on 1st February.

Speaking to Radio Sheffield after the draw with Stoke on Tuesday night the Millers Boss said that there was no sign of a new signing at the moment but went on to say, ‘It is evident on how physical we play that we do need to strengthen. We’ve got a number of weeks on the spin when we will be playing three times a week and asking what we do of the lads then we need to have a real depth in strength.

‘We have let some players out and we will probably let some more out and we need to recruit some real Championship players to help out this great group.’

I’m pleased he’s said we need ‘real Championship’ players and hope that means players who are now or who have been recently playing in our league. I would think a left-back is a priority with the possibility of a striker or a forward thinking midfielder in his mind.

The Millers have let winger Mickel Miller out on loan until the end of the season to Northampton Town while young Joshua Kayode has stayed with Carlisle United. Striker Kyle Vassell is also out on loan with Warne saying that he doubts we will see him in a Rotherham shirt again. Coming back to the New York Stadium is Curtis Tilt who was sent out on loan to Wigan in October to get games under his belt and Jamie Proctor is back from a loan spell with Newport County but we understand isn’t going to be included in the twenty-five man squad.

We have players coming back from injury with Clark Robertson having had substitute appearances in the last couple of games and Shaun MacDonald was on the bench while both Chieo Ogbene and Kieran Sadlier are hoped to be back sooner rather than later although Joe Mattock could be out until the spring.

Closing in eleven days we haven’t really got long to get players in before the end of the window, though, I suppose there will be players on ‘a free’ after that, but is that who we want?
