Warne ‘We Didn’t Take Our Chances’

|

Rotherham United had chances today – but, then again, there aren’t many Saturday nights go by that I don’t write the same.

I don’t know why we don’t seem to be able to put our chances away or why we let the opposition get back into the game but we can’t and we do, week after week after week.

Millers Manager Paul Warne told iFOLLOW after the one all draw that his lads did ‘everything they could to win a football match’. Now, I can’t say that they didn’t try and there were players who stopped Wigan getting in the box but, man, we hear the same thing every week.

Saying he thought Rotherham were on top in the first half, Warney said, ‘We just didn’t take our chances. On another day we might have got a couple of pens but I think Cooky (Paul Cook) will be happier with a draw than me.’

I’m sure he will. They set out to get a point and a point they got. We really can’t keep going in front and sitting back – we really need to start getting a goal then trying to get another and then another. I’ll be honest I don’t think I’d even feel safe at three-up.

Warney also said everyone is desperate for three points – luckily Reading only drew this afternoon so they are still below us but only just – but we should be holding on to leads and getting three points at home, surely. I am quite worried that should be drop into the bottom three we might not get out of it.

Speaking to their Official Site Wigan Manager Paul Cook admitted it wasn’t the prettiest game of football this afternoon. ‘I think Rotherham weren’t far off unplayable in the first half,’ he said, ‘they were strong and put the ball into all the correct areas and we came here knowing we were going to have to defend. I thought we were the better team in the second half and our players defended really well.’

We play 1 up front at home against a fellow relegation contender!!!
I’m sorry but the writing is on the wall, the position of ‘calamity clueless’ needs re assessing I’m afraid .
Oh , we need a striker by the way.

I can’t understand the one up front at home, Andy S. Always, in my mind, need at least two up front. Wigan, at times yesterday, had three up front – and they were away.

Same old waffle coming from the manager, same old rubbish , its simple, the best way to defend is attack. One striker up front against a relegation team or any team playing at the N to me shows no intention of winning the game
