Warne ‘There’s A Lot Of Positives’

Rotherham United Manager Paul Warne was ‘pleased’ with the point his Millers players earned today at home to Swansea City.

‘I’d have been more pleased with three,’ the Millers Boss told Radio Sheffield, ‘but I thought our boys stuck to the task. If they (Swansea) had scored in the last minute I’d have been heartbroken but it wouldn’t have taken away from the level of our lads’ performance.

‘Swansea are an unbelievable set of players with a centre-half who hit one in from thirty yards. (Michael) Obafemi had a good chance he didn’t take but I thought we limited them to very few chances.

‘It was a good goal from Chieo (Ogbene) who played really well playing as a nine and their ‘keeper made good saves in the second half and I think we created enough chances to potentially win the game. But we could also have potentially lost it.

‘I thought our subs came on and had a positive affect, Peter (Kioso) and Cohen (Bramall) have real pace and it was Georgie’s home debut and he came on and nearly scored straight away.

‘Overall I was pleased with the performance and really pleased with the fan base. There’s a lot of positives.’

After the first fifteen minutes or so I thought we got into our game today. We stopped Swansea scoring at one end and had shots at the other – you can’t really ask for more than that in the first game of the season. I also agree with Warney I thought our fans were great today – applauding when we made Swansea go backwards, geeing the lads up when something hadn’t quite worked. All in all it’s good to be back!
