Warne Talks Contracts and Recruitment

|

Rotherham United’s open top bus parade was attended by thousands of Millers fans as the bus made it’s way from the New York Stadium to the All Saint’s Square.

Speaking to Millers Manager Paul Warne Radio Sheffield asked about him signing a new contract.

‘Obviously I want to stay on as Manager. I really enjoy it though it is hugely stressful at times.,’ Warney said. ‘The Chairman and I spoke today and one of the things we spoke about was contracts for all the staff so that should be sorted soon.’

Talking about recruitment, the Millers Boss said, ‘I’ve met a player already and I’m meeting another tomorrow, but I’m not looking to make wholesale changes with the squad. I know the squad has to be strengthened but you’ve got to be careful. You can fetch in one or two who you think will improve, but they don’t and that affects the group.’

Warney was asked about the link between the Millers and Walsall midfielder Erhun Oztumer with the Gaffer saying there was nothing in it.

I rather suspect the Millers are going to be linked with many players before the start of the season but I really can’t see Paul Warne fetching too many in. We have got Jamie Proctor and Darren Potter to come back after bad injuries, which will be like having two new players in the team.

My thoughts are that we need to get at least one if not two goalkeepers sorted – and I’d really love one of those to be Marek Rodak, whether we can sign him or just another season long loan. Maybe an old fashioned centre-half wouldn’t go amiss either.

Another player I’d like to see back at the New York Stadium next season is Josh Emmanuel, that lad, to me, has come on in leaps and bounds in the second half of the season. And I wouldn’t be sorry to see both Richie Towell and Caolan Lavery in Millers shirts come August.

What about you – which positions do you think we need to fill for our start in the Championship?
