Warne ‘Pleased’ With Character In Second Half

|

Rotherham United Manager Paul Warne was pleased with the point his Millers side got this afternoon at home to Fleetwood Town after having to patch them up and mix-and-match his team due to illness and injuries.

The Millers were without any ‘true’ defenders this afternoon and there was illness going around meaning that there were players on the pitch who weren’t really fit to play plus a bench consisting of injured players and a youth team lad.

‘I thought we looked really edgy in the first half,’ the Millers Boss told iFOLLOW after the two-all draw.

‘We made the change at half-time and asked them to be a bit more positive and I thought we gave it a right go in the second half. I thought we’d go on and win it when we equalised but, to say the least, we gave away a poor goal.

‘But, all in all, I’m really pleased with the character they showed in the second half.’

I actually thought the substitution of Chiedozie Ogbene changed the game for the Millers and the only reason I can think of why he wasn’t on from the start, with all the illness and injuries, is that he was ill himself or maybe because he is on a number of bookings.

Once again though we weren’t good and I know we have a lot of problems at the moment but maybe that’s due, in part, to the fact that we are a very small squad.

The Millers next game is on Boxing Day at Shrewsbury – let’s hope some of this illness around the camp has gone by then.
