Warne Pleased To Get All Three Points

|

Rotherham United made it fourteen games without defeat this afternoon by beating Cambridge United three-one at the New York Stadium.

Speaking to IFollow after the win Millers Manager Paul Warne admitted that it was a bit of a strange game saying, ‘We just didn’t sustain attacks.’

He’s not wrong is he? I thought some of our balls in were poor today – some weren’t – and some of our passing wasn’t as good as it has been. But, playing not at your best and still winning can’t be a bad thing can it.

‘I thought Cambridge caused us problems on the counter-attack,’ the Millers Boss carried on. Every time we attacked they seemed to break then we were defending and they put us under pressure.’

Again that’s exactly how I saw it. Their number fourteen (Wes Hoolahan) had the better of our markers for most of the game – it was a bit of a relief when he was subbed after eighty-three minutes!

‘I thought we were complicating the game a little bit,’ Warne said.

‘We went one up which was a great finish from Wilesy (Ben Wiles) and then some good work from Freddie (Ladapo) got us a second goal. But at half-time I still thought we needed the next goal but Cambridge got it and it was a little bit edgy.

‘On another day Cambridge could have gone away from here with a point so for us to get the three points I’m pleased although we did create a lot.

‘The subs came on and made a positive impact and we’ve come away with no injuries which is good news.’

The Millers are hoping to have Ollie Rathbone back for Tuesday night who missed out today because of illness.
