Warne ‘Nice To Score That Many At Home’

|

Rotherham United Manager Paul Warne thought his team were ‘really good’ this afternoon which, personally, I think is an understatement after they beat a very good Sunderland side five-one.

‘I was disappointed in the goal we conceded,’ the Millers Boss told iFollow after the game. And, I admit, so was I when it happened but I forgot about that with what went on later!

‘We played well and it’s nice to score that many goals at home,’ Warney carried on and went on to mention big Millers fan Ben Bennett,  the Family Stand is named after his family, who sadly passed away earlier this week saying, ‘it was fitting we played as well as we did today for him.’

‘We try to be competitive in every game we play in,’ the Boss said, ‘we try to get as many goal attempts as we can, be as quick as we can and sometimes you don’t get your just desserts and today we probably got the goals our play deserved.

‘It is a good win against a good Sunderland team who are well coached and well organised. We knew it would be a difficult game but if our lads play at their very best then they are difficult to play against and today was an example of that.

‘I’ve told that lads how proud I was of them today, I thought they were outstanding but there is always room for improvement. It was a good day at the office.’

A concern for our trip to Charlton is Ben Wiles who took a ‘few hits’ on his ankle today.
